Organised by Oxted Runners and based at Limpsfield Chart Golf Club, the Titsey Trail 10k is an almost entirely off-road single-lap route through Limpsfield Common and the wooded High Chart ridge that straddles the Surrey-Kent border - land that borders the historic Titsey Estate, a manor and parkland held by the same family for centuries and now preserved for public benefit by its own charitable trust. The course starts flat for its first couple of kilometres before turning uphill onto the wooded plateau, a stiff enough climb to notice but nothing technical, on a mix of bridleways, tracks and footpaths with only a brief stretch of country lane. Chip timing means the climbing doesn't stop this being a legitimate PB attempt for anyone comfortable on trail rather than tarmac, and the woodland setting - proper mixed common land rather than a manicured park - gives it a wilder, more absorbing character than the average parkland 10k.
It's a genuinely local, club-run affair rather than a big commercial production, which shows in small touches like allotment and British Legion parking within easy walking distance and a straightforward, well-marshalled route. This suits runners who want a scenic autumn off-road test without needing serious trail-racing experience or gear, particularly those within reach of the M25's Junction 6 or Oxted station who fancy discovering a stretch of the Surrey Hills fringe that most road runners in the area never see.
