Race Description

The longer of two distances offered at this Kent Science Park event, the Sittingbourne 10 Mile is organised by Sittingbourne Striders and shares its start and finish with the accompanying 10K, giving the whole day a genuine event-village feel rather than a bare-bones race HQ. 2026 marks the club's 40th anniversary, adding some extra occasion to this edition.

The route takes in more of the surrounding countryside than the shorter distance, following a mix of quiet lanes and undulating terrain — runners who've done this race before will recognise Stockers Hill, a well-known, slightly feared feature that's stayed part of the course through various route updates over the years. It's not a technical or especially punishing route, but the rolling nature of the terrain means it rewards genuine strength and pacing discipline over raw speed alone.

As with the 10K, the event is well organised — good parking, proper toilets, and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that regular participants consistently point to as a reason they return year after year. Marshalling along the longer route is thorough, and finishers are well looked after with a medal and the same post-race extras as the 10K field, including a complimentary massage on site.

A solid, well-run mid-distance option for anyone using the 10 mile as a stepping stone toward a half marathon, or simply looking for a proper test over a less common race distance in a genuinely supportive club environment.
