Rye 10 Miler Trail

Race Description

Starting and finishing at Jempsons supermarket in Peasmarsh, a few miles inland from Rye, the Rye 10 Miler heads out along quiet Sussex lanes for around three and a half miles before picking up a three-mile loop and returning the same way - an out-and-loop-and-back shape rather than a single circuit, run on genuinely open roads that are only closed to traffic along Tanhouse Lane by the start. That means sharing the tarmac with the odd local car, which suits its character as an honest, old-fashioned country road race rather than a fully closed-road event.

The course is accurately measured but far from flat, with close to 270 metres of climbing across the ten miles, enough undulation to make it a genuine test for anyone building towards a longer road race. It's run in support of the Peasmarsh Memorial Hall Committee, so entry fees go directly back into the village hall that doubles as the community's meeting place, giving the race a clear local purpose beyond the running itself. As part of the Sussex Grand Prix series, it also draws a competitive club field alongside locals and first-timers, with the medieval hilltop town of Rye visible in the distance for much of the route.

It suits runners after a proper hilly ten-mile test on real roads, with a strong sense of supporting a small Sussex village rather than a big commercial event.
