Out Of The Blue Battle 10k

Race Description

Organised by Nice Work and held within the 220-acre grounds of Ashburnham Place near Battle, this is an evening multi-terrain race - 17:30 start - run on a mix of grass, trail and tarmac paths around the estate's lakes rather than on closed roads. The 10k covers two laps of the same course, so runners pass the lakes and grounds twice before finishing.

The race is run in memory of Will Beckett, with proceeds supporting four charities - Winston's Wish, Dragonflies, CALM and the Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team - giving it a clear charitable purpose beyond the running itself. The grounds are noted for their wildlife and parkland setting, and the mixed surfaces mean trail shoes are more useful than road racers, particularly if the grass has seen recent rain.

A children's race on the field runs alongside the adult events, and all finishers get a bespoke medal with prizes for the leading runners.
