Race Description
The shortest of the three distances on offer, starting and finishing at Oundle Primary School on Cotterstock Lane at 09:00 alongside the 10k and 20 Mile, but covering a single lap of the same short loop that 10k runners complete twice. The start is on the road north of the school entrance, with the finish on the school field, making logistics simple for anyone running with family across the different distances.
Like the other Oundle races it's organised directly by Nice Work rather than a local club, on tarmac lanes around the town that are gently undulating rather than flat, giving it a bit more character than a pancake-flat road 5k without being a serious hill test. Being one lap rather than two of the 10k's loop, it's a genuinely quicker, more approachable outing than either of the other two distances on the day.
It suits newer runners, those pacing family members, or anyone wanting a short, scenic outing around Oundle's lanes without the training-run distance of the 20 Mile or the repeat lap of the 10k - all while still getting the same medal and race-day extras as the longer events.
