Race Description

Regent's Park's Broad Walk becomes a three-lap 10k route each Easter Monday, taking runners past the boating lake, alongside the perimeter of London Zoo, and by the ornate Victorian Readymoney Fountain - a Grade II-listed drinking fountain gifted to the park in 1869 by the Bombay industrialist Sir Cowasjee Jehangir, whose fortune earned him the nickname 'Readymoney'. The tarmac paths are almost entirely traffic-free and largely flat, with just one gentle rise repeated each lap, which makes this one of the more genuinely PB-friendly 10ks available in central London on a bank holiday weekend. Its Easter Monday date and family-friendly extras - a two-mile fun run and a 700m junior dash - have turned it into something of an alternative to a chocolate-egg hunt for London running families, while the accessible location, easy reach from Baker Street, Great Portland Street or Camden Town, keeps it popular with runners from across the city who don't want to travel far.

What sets it apart from a generic park 10k elsewhere in the country is really the setting: few races let you run three laps within earshot of a zoo, past century-old parkland features, in the heart of a capital city, all on closed paths rather than shared with cyclists and dog walkers. It suits time-chasers looking for a flat, well-organised course as much as it suits casual runners and families wanting an Easter outing with a bit of exercise built in, and the bespoke Easter-themed medal adds a seasonal touch to what is fundamentally a fast, functional loop of one of London's grandest Royal Parks.
