The middle leg of Nice Work's Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend, based at Victoria Park in Haywards Heath the day after the East Grinstead leg and the day before Burgess Hill's. Like its sibling races it's a multi-terrain, undulating 10 miles mixing road and trail through the town and surrounding Sussex countryside, run every May bank holiday as part of an event now in its 15th year.
Being the second of three legs, it's the one most runners attempting the full weekend feel in their legs the most - a genuine test of back-to-back distance running rather than a fresh, standalone effort, even though it's entered and timed as its own race for anyone doing just this one. The same Mid Sussex Mile and family fun run accompany it, keeping the day as much a local town event as a serious race for weekend-challenge runners.
It suits runners wanting a solid multi-terrain 10 miler in its own right, and is a key test for anyone attempting all three days back to back - Sussex's most literal way of finding out what running a marathon in three unequal, day-apart pieces actually feels like.
