East Grinstead 10 Miler

Race Description

Day one of Nice Work's Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend, held every May bank holiday and now in its 15th year, starts and finishes at East Grinstead Rugby Club on St Hill Road. It's a multi-terrain 10 mile route blending road and trail across the Sussex countryside around the town, undulating rather than flat, and sets the tone for the two legs that follow over the rest of the weekend.

Runners can enter this leg on its own as a standalone 10 mile race, or use it as day one of the full three-day "marathon" challenge - East Grinstead's 10 miles on Saturday, Haywards Heath's 10 miles on Sunday, and Burgess Hill's 10k on the bank holiday Monday, adding up to marathon distance across the weekend for anyone doing all three. A chip-timed Mid Sussex Mile and a family-friendly fun run run alongside it, giving the weekend a community-festival feel rather than a purely competitive one.

It suits runners wanting a proper multi-terrain 10 mile test with genuine history behind it (15 years running), whether as a one-off town race or the opening leg of a genuinely unusual three-day distance challenge spread across three different Sussex towns.
