Cannock Chase Forest 5 Miler Trail

Race Description

The 5 mile is a single lap of Nice Work's Cannock Chase Forest course, the shortest of the four distances run over the same undulating loop that 10, 15 and 20 mile runners repeat multiple times. Starting and finishing at Wood Road Car Park on Penkridge Bank Road, it takes in forest paths and trails across the Cannock Chase AONB, with a mix of pine plantation and open heathland and surfaces that can be muddy or uneven depending on recent weather.

Because it's one lap of the same hilly, technical course rather than a flattened-out shorter route, it's still a genuine trail run rather than an easy introduction - runners shouldn't expect road-5-mile conditions underfoot. That said, it's the most accessible of the four options for less experienced trail runners, or for anyone who wants to experience Cannock Chase's scenery and heathland views without committing to multiple laps.

All finishers get a bespoke medal, with free event photographs and prizes for the leading runners, and free parking is available. It suits newer off-road runners, families, or anyone using it as a lighter session alongside training for one of the longer distances in the same series.
