Cannock Chase Forest 10K Trail

Race Description

The 10k is a single lap of the same course used for the Half Marathon at this Cannock Chase weekend, run on the forest's paths, trails and bridleways rather than closed roads. Organised by Nice Work from the Penkridge Bank Road venue, it shares the HM's uneven, root-strewn terrain and occasional slippery sections, just without the repeat lap - so runners get one pass through the Chase's heathland and pine plantation scenery rather than two.

Like the Half Marathon, this event sits on its own weekend, separate from the four-distance Cannock Chase Forest race held earlier in the year, and has recently shifted from its traditional autumn slot to summer. As a single lap of technical trail it's a manageable but still genuine off-road 10k, better suited to runners with some trail experience than complete beginners expecting flat, dry paths throughout.

All finishers get a bespoke medal, with free photographs and prizes for the leading runners on the day, plus free parking. It's a reasonable option for runners who want the Cannock Chase trail experience and its AONB scenery without the Half Marathon's second lap, or as a tune-up race for someone building toward longer off-road distances.
