Race Description

Organised by Nice Work and based at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest near Goudhurst, the 10 mile is run as two laps of an undulating loop through the pinetum and surrounding forest, on paths and trails likely to be muddy underfoot rather than closed roads. Bedgebury holds the most complete collection of conifers anywhere in the world - over 10,000 specimens across 320 acres, established in 1925 as a joint project between the Forestry Commission and Kew - so the running is done under a genuinely unusual tree canopy rather than a generic pine plantation.

There's no vehicle traffic on the course, and 10 mile runners park separately in the Walled Garden rather than the main car park used by the 5 mile field, keeping the two distances apart before the start. Finishers get a bespoke medal, free event photos, and there are trophies and prizes for the leading runners.

The two-lap format and the undulating terrain make it a solid spring marathon-training outing rather than a PB course, and it suits runners who want a longer, tougher day in the forest with the novelty of running through an internationally significant tree collection rather than an ordinary woodland trail race.
